Hawaii has five counties. Each one handles its own police record section for name-based service, and most background check work is routed through the statewide Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center. Honolulu, Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai each run their own police agencies. Kalawao is unique and uses Maui services.
